Tucked away on the banks of the Corriente River in the city of Esquina in Argentina this hidden gem offers prized freshwater Dorado fly fishing in a truly spectacular wetland wilderness. Family owned and operated, at Don Joaquin River Lodge they treat guests with the very warmest Argentine hospitality.
Our clients will experience the thrill of sport fishing the famous golden dorado on pristine rivers, share delicious meals with friends and relax in our elegantly decorated lodge and guest rooms.
Standards are high and we aim to provide you with a trip of a lifetime. We welcome anglers of all skill levels, if you are a novice the guides will teach you, if you are a highly skilled angler we will provide you with exciting challenges. This lodge is a fly fishing, horseback riding and relaxing destination and welcomes the non-anglers of your group.
The vibrant green, yellow, orange and black found on Golden Dorados, make it one of the most
recognisable fish in the River. However, enthusiasts aren’t only attracted by its natural
beauty. The strong fight it gives to avoid being caught is so challenging, that it's worthy of
admiration. And further challenges any fly fisherman.
Golden Dorado Fly Fishing is totally addictive since their behaviours are always different. Behaviour varies according to the area where one fishes. Streams, fallen trees on the coasts, submerged stones, or clear or dark water, as well as regarding they being migratory or
resident Dorados.
The ideal equipment for fly fishing is #6 and #8 rods with matching lines, float or sinking, Being able to put streamers or poppers since each place has its own technique. Unlike what happens with Trout and Salmon fishing, where you set the hook by drifting the rod, for Golden Dorado you require a solid strip set to place the hook correctly.
Underestimating the power of their jaws and cutting ability, is the main reason why you need a knottable wire connecting your fly to the leader. In order not to
lose fish.
Golden Dorado Fly Fishing is an experience you should try once in your life.
