Barton Court sits on the main River Kennet, one of southern England’s most beautiful chalk streams, and also includes access to several smaller Kennet carriers, offering two contrasting styles of chalk-stream fly fishing.
If you’re searching for a mix of wild and stocked brown trout in a truly classic setting, Barton Court is the perfect destination. Anglers can book single-rod days or enjoy exclusive private fishing for up to six rods available every day except Mondays and Thursdays These days are for our group bookings up to 10 rods. Avington Estate
Avington Estate sits along the main River Kennet, complemented by smaller carriers, offering two distinct fly fishing experiences.
Ideal for both stocked and wild trout fishing, the estate provides 6-12 rod days each Monday perfect for anglers seeking variety whilst being ideal for fly fishing lessons. If you’re planning to entertain a group by the river, Avington is an excellent choice. Just outside Hungerford, it’s an easy drive from London via the M4 or a convenient train ride from Paddington in just over an hour.
The estate features a comfortable pavilion right by the riverbank, where you can relax, take in the views, and watch the trout jump. It’s an easy stroll to hook a strong-fighting trout, ready for the BBQ.

Rought layout of the day
Arrive 9:00/10:00am for breakfast.
10:30 fly Fishing the beat with guides. Including fly fishing lessons if wanted.
1:00 lunch and Canapés at the fishing hut.
2:30 back to the river with your guide.
4:00 Tea & cake.
4:30 fish the afternoon rise
6:00 guides finish
8:00 Estate closes.
Note: This is a rough schedule on timings. The day is very relaxed and fits around you and your clients.
Local accommodation can be arranged for all party members. Train stations are nearby both estates, being very easy to get too and from London.
