Troutland Finland
TROUTLAND in Central Finland offers more than 10 km of exceptional private brown
trout water and some of the finest wild trout fishing in Europe. These pristine rivers and
rapids are home to strong, native brown trout, with an average fish measuring around 50
cm (20 inches) and larger specimens regularly exceeding 70 cm (27.5 inches).
The fishing is centred around a series of beautiful rapids, typically 25–40 metres wide
and generally less than 1 km in length.
Their manageable size makes them exciting and
accessible to fish, while still offering the challenge of targeting large, truly wild trout.
Much of the water can be waded, with experienced local guides on hand to help anglers
safely navigate the rivers and identify the most productive lies
THE FISHING EXPERIENCE
What makes TROUTLAND particularly special is the combination of intimate water and
exceptionally powerful fish. The experience has similarities to fishing some of the
famous trout rivers of the Kola Peninsula, but on a smaller, more personal scale — with
the potential for remarkably large brown trout. For anglers looking for wild fish, beautiful
surroundings and exciting dry-fly fishing, Central Finland offers a genuinely world-class

Accommodation
KELLANKOSKI LODGE
Situated on the shores of Lake Liesvesi, Kellankoski Lodge provides a comfortable and characterful base for a week of fishing in TROUTLAND. Originally built as a school in 1923, the historic building has been fully renovated and transformed into a dedicated fishing and outdoor lodge, complete with the Ahoniemi restaurant.
The lodge is ideally positioned close to TROUTLAND’s renowned fishing waters, while Etelä-Konnevesi National Park and several excellent hiking trails are also nearby. Accommodation consists of five double rooms, two private cottages and one single room. Guests can also enjoy a traditional Finnish sauna and outdoor patios overlooking the surrounding landscape.
The lodge has a small fly shop stocking locally tied flies, fly lines, reels and other
essential fishing tackle.
FOOD AND DRINK
Guests can expect excellent food prepared using high-quality, fresh ingredients, sourced, caught or foraged as locally as possible. The food reflects the lodge team’s experiences from fishing trips around the world, combined with the traditions and flavours of Finland. Menus feature plenty of fish and game, blending Finnish cooking with international influences. Alongside breakfast, guests enjoy a three-course meal each day at the lodge.
Depending on the fishing schedule, a takeaway lunch can be provided to enjoy on the riverbank. On days when fishing continues late into the evening, guests may instead return to the lodge for a very late supper. The lodge is not licensed to sell alcohol, but guests are welcome to bring their own beer, wine and other alcoholic drinks. Refrigeration is available for guests’ personal drinks.
Please note: Alcohol availability in Finnish shops is restricted, particularly on Sundays.
Guests wishing to bring wine or spirits may therefore prefer to purchase them at the airport before travelling to the lodge.
Snacks, coffee and tea are available to guests in the dining room.
