Rollo Grandy Owner

Rollo is an experienced fly fishing guide in the UK who has spent more than 17 years guiding anglers on rivers around the world. Through his work as a professional fly fishing guide, he has developed extensive knowledge of different fly fishing techniques, trout fishing, and salmon fishing across a wide variety of environments.

During his career, Rollo has travelled and fished in many remarkable destinations including the Caribbean, Slovenia, Romania, Iceland and Spain, as well as working as a fly fishing guide in New Zealand and Russia. These international experiences have broadened his understanding of river systems, fish behaviour, and effective fly fishing methods, allowing him to share valuable knowledge with anglers of all abilities.

Having been passionate about fly fishing since childhood, Rollo has always had a strong connection with brown trout and Atlantic salmon fishing. Over the years he has also been involved in river management and habitat improvement projects throughout the south of England, including keepering beats on the famous River Itchen, one of the UK’s most renowned chalk streams.

Through this work, Rollo has gained significant experience in river conservation, trout habitat creation, and sustainable fishery management, helping to protect and improve the natural environments that support these iconic species.

Inspired by his passion for rivers, fish, and the outdoors, Rollo founded Hookafly, a company dedicated to offering guided fly fishing trips and fly fishing adventures on some of the most beautiful rivers in the UK and abroad. His goal is to share his love for fly fishing while giving anglers the opportunity to experience exceptional waters and stunning landscapes.

Rollo is the owner and main guide at Hookafly, where he organises and leads guided fly fishing trips in Hampshire, across the UK and Internationally. He works with Fisherman of all skill levels, from beginners learning the basics of fly casting and river fishing to experienced fishermen looking to refine their techniques for trout and salmon fly fishing.
